BEHAVIOURAL ASSESSMENTS

Behavioural assessments examine whether a child exhibits challenging behaviour that falls outside the age-appropriate range. Behavioural concerns may include hyperactivity, impulsivity, aggression, difficult sustaining attention, and disruptions to learning and peer relations. Assessments help to identify and diagnose: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, Conduct Disorder. Assessments utilised include the BASC-3; Connors rating Scales; Vineland-3.

Our behavioural assessments are also useful to:

  • Develop individualised treatment plans

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of an intervention.

  • Process of differential diagnosis: Behavioural assessments can also be administered in conjunction with cognitive assessments to determine if challenging behaviours can be explained by the presence of an intellectual disability, learning disorder or giftedness.

Assessment fees depend on the type of assessment required. The cost of an assessment depends on many factors and a price will be provided to you after you have submitted an enquiry.  However, as a guide you can expect to pay between $1500 and $2200 for a child and adolescent assessment. Currently Medicare rebates do not apply for assessments when using a Mental Health Treatment Plan, however autism diagnostic assessments may be rebated via Medicare if referred by a paediatrician or psychiatrist. Some private health funds may provide a rebate.
